PS: I am not “New”, I have been using it since 9.0. All I am “complaining” about is the absolute useless of the update to 9.5A number of situations call for safety in a work environment. For example, prior to opening the door of a tank truck, a person inside the tank truck must move to a lower portion of the tank truck and open the door while in a hazardous, potentially slippery environment. Other examples may be safety concerns when a vehicle stops for a traffic light or when a passenger must exit the vehicle. In these situations, it is advantageous to keep the person

How to get a list of objects returned by lp_search_get_ents() in Postgres 9.4?
I need to create a function that searches a list of objects by their id and the id of a given object. The function takes as parameters the ID of the object and the ID of the object to search for.
The objects are stored in a table with an integer primary key. In my case, the table has a few thousand objects (about a thousand to be exact).
The function would create a new list of objects that contain a reference to the search object and a reference to the new object.
The Postgres documentation says that the lp_search_get_ents() function returns objects in the form:
id | array_agg
————+—————
id_1 | array1
id_2 | array2
…
But how do I retrieve the array_agg of the new objects in the function? How do I loop over the array?
The function would look something like this:
CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION
find_new_objects(
obj_id int,
search_id int
)
RETURNS SETOF obj AS $$
BEGIN
